According to recent studies, the 77 largest German cities lack around 1.9 million cheap apartments, including around 1.4 million small apartments for single-person households.
This development has far-reaching consequences. It is not only private households that are affected; companies are also confronted with growing difficulties in attracting or retaining qualified specialists in the long term due to a lack of suitable living space. Compact and economically feasible apartments are particularly in demand, yet they are still underrepresented in new housing projects.
